Sarasota To Adopt “Ready For 100” Renewable Energy Incentive
On Monday, June 19th, the Sarasota City Commission unanimously approved a plan to transition to 100 percent renewable energy for municipal operations by 2030, additionally calling for community-wide conversion to renewable sources by 2045. The Commission seeks to add Sarasota to the Ready For 100 Campaign, a list of cities that are committed to achieving 100 percent renewable energy utilization. The Ready For 100 Campaign is organized by the Sierra Club, one of the largest environmental organizations in the United States. Sarasota is now one of at least 14 other cities in Florida to express interest in the incentive, with others including Orlando, Daytona Beach, Miami Beach, and St. Petersburg.
