The City Of Sarasota Commission has approved housing developer Harvey Vengroff’s proposition to construct five six-story apartment buildings on land located on the northeast edge of Downtown Sarasota at 2211 Fruitville Rd. These buildings will contain a total of 393 affordable units, ranging in monthly rent from $650 to $950. Vengross still needs to file to rezone the property for residential use before construction can begin. The buildings will provide less luxurious but more affordable housing options that are still within walking distance of Main Street, opening up Downtown Sarasota’s unique charm and lifestyle to a greater number of people.
