Last December, Barron and Patricia Schimberg of Schimberg Group, Inc. purchased a 12,725 SF lot located at 2101 Main St. on the east end of Downtown Sarasota from First Church Of Christ, Scientist. The Schimberg Group is now in the process of developing a new two story 2,000 SF building on this land, which the firm will occupy the second floor of. The ground floor will be available to lease for office, retail, or dining uses. In an article written by Alex Mahadevan of YourObserver.com, Barron Schimberg explains that his organization’s goal for this project is to expand the Downtown Sarasota community to the east: “Our intent is to start motivating people to begin looking at it as more of a community than just an area of town.”

Icon Residential purchased two acres of land one block east of the future site of the Schimberg Group’s building one week ago. Icon plans to construct a 37 unit three story townhome complex, proving that the Schimbergs aren’t the only ones who see the potential in the east end of Downtown Sarasota.
